Review: SimplyPrint
Part of the A3DP remote-monitoring series. Prices checked 2026-10-23 from https://simplyprint.io/pricing.
One-liner: The polished cloud platform that grows with you from one hobby printer to a 100-printer farm — cloud-only, closed-source, and priced per printer, not per feature.
What it is
SimplyPrint is a cloud SaaS for 3D printer management: remote monitoring & control, cloud slicing, filament inventory, print queues, print-farm dashboards, and AI failure detection. It supports 895+ printer models across 166+ brands, including direct Klipper integration ("Smart Printers — WiFi & Klipper built-in, install directly — no extra hardware"), Bambu/Elegoo via their client, and classic Pi+OctoPrint setups. There is no self-hosted option and the core backend is closed source.

AI failure detection — real or marketing?
Real, and the most transparently presented of the bunch: per-print confidence gauges, class-confidence charts, and failure timelines rendered in the printer panel. Detects spaghetti, warping, and blobbing today; layer shift, stringing, and zits are announced as coming. Free tier: notifications only. Auto-pause/cancel starts at Basic ($5.99). Privacy posture is unusually explicit: images "analyzed once and never stored without consent", no training on your data unless you opt in, AI hosted on SimplyPrint's own servers. As everywhere in this series: no independent accuracy benchmark exists (checked 2026-10-23); their best public evidence is a named print-farm customer (lostboyslab, ~100 printers) crediting the AI with catching failures early.
Klipper support
Good and improving: Klipper printers with WiFi connect directly via their client; Voron and Rat Rig appear in the brand list. For farms, the Pro Print-Farm tier is where the Klipper fleet story gets serious (queues, multiprint, permissions).
Mobile app
Web-app-first design; companion apps exist. We did not verify app store ratings (flagged UNVERIFIED in the survey) — SimplyPrint's mobile experience is its weakest area relative to the OctoEverywhere+OctoApp/Mobileraker stack.
Security model
Cloud agent model — the printer dials out, nothing is port-forwarded. Business-grade controls only on Enterprise (SSO, 2FA enforcement, IP whitelisting, audit logs).
Project health (GitHub API, 2026-10-23)
Org repos pushed 2026-10-19..23 (slicer-profiles-db 2026-10-23, websocket client 2026-10-20, NFC agent 2026-10-19). The company ships constantly (their blog publishes multiple times a week). Core backend is closed source. Verdict: very alive — the most "real company" of the hobbyist-facing options.
Pros
- Best-in-class print-farm feature set (queues, AutoPrint, maintenance dashboards, team permissions)
- Clean per-printer pricing that scales from $0 to enterprise
- Transparent AI presentation (confidence UI, per-print graphs)
- Strong privacy commitments, opt-in training only
- API + MCP + Zapier/n8n automation hooks on Pro
Cons
- Cloud-only, closed source — no self-host escape hatch if they ever go away or change terms
- AI auto-pause paywalled at Basic; free AI is 12 h/mo
- Mobile app story weaker than the OctoEverywhere ecosystem (unverified ratings)
- Farm and enterprise pricing gets real-money serious fast
Who it's for
Anyone running 3+ printers as a mini-farm or small business — this is the category's best farm OS. For a single hobby Klipper printer, the free tier is nice but OctoEverywhere's free tier does more.
