Large-Format 3D Printing — proposed pricing (DRAFT)

DRAFT — proposed pricing, not live. All numbers on this page are proposed launch pricing pending Rob’s sign-off. Page is unpublished; nothing here is a live checkout or a committed quote.

Large-Format 3D Printing — Proposed Pricing

We’re a print farm testing large-format demand. Pricing below is our proposed launch pricing, not a live checkout — tell us what you think and we’ll build the service around it.

Big parts are where marketplace pricing breaks down. In our 53-quote study, a 500×300×200 mm (30 liter) PLA box was quoted anywhere from $659.50 to $5,193.56 — a 7.9× spread between vendors, with a $1,944.78 median. Our proposed launch price for that same box: $1,350–$1,650. Under the marketplace median, far above raw material cost, and printed in the US.

Assumptions: shelled mode estimates a hollow part with ~2.4 mm walls, tops and bottoms plus 15% infill of the interior; solid mode is the full bounding volume at 100% infill. Marketplace comparison applies the 53-quote study’s 30 L rate ($0.0648/cm³, PLA) — it scales linearly and does NOT reflect how small parts are priced. Estimates are indicative only; final quotes are confirmed per order. Source: our 53-quote marketplace study.

What we’re gathering info on

We’re a small US print farm testing whether there’s real demand for large-format 3D printing. Pricing on this page is our proposed launch pricing — nothing is live yet, and your survey answers decide whether we build the service out.

What we can do today

  • ~525 mm per axis in one piece — our RIFT 525 CoreXY handles the large-part class natively (the 500×300×200 mm test box from our study fits with room to spare).
  • US domestic — printed and shipped from our farm; no overseas production queue, no customs wait.
  • PLA and PETG at launch, with more materials under evaluation.

What we can’t do yet

  • Parts over ~525 mm per axis in one piece. We’re evaluating a split & bond service (sections printed, bonded, finished) — ask us if you have a part like that.
  • Instant quotes / checkout. This page is a demand test; final pricing is confirmed per order once the service launches.
  • Turnaround commitments. We’re collecting what lead times you’d need before we promise anything. Tell us in the survey.
